Since 1983 the National Youth Science Foundation has created impactful programming that engages youth from around the globe.

Help us continue to create STEM programming!

The mission of the National Youth Science Foundation is to inspire lifelong engagement and ethical leadership in science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and related professions through its proven educational model for mentoring, challenging, and motivating students. By building communities among students, teachers, and professionals, NYSFoundation programs complement, broaden, and enhance the traditional school curriculum leading to careers in science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and related professions.

Founded in 1963, the National Youth Science Camp (NYSCamp), NYSFoundation's flagship program, is a residential science education program for young STEM enthusiasts the summer after they graduate from high school. Students from around the country are challenged academically in exciting lectures and hands-on studies, and have voluntary opportunities to participate in an outdoor adventure program, gain a new and deep appreciation for the great outdoors, and establish friendships that last a lifetime. Students who are selected will attend the NYSCamp free of charge - including travel, meals, and housing.

See the impact of NYSFoundation's programming:

  • More than 99% of NYSCamp alumni receive at least a bachelor’s degree
  • More than 50% of NYSCamp alumni receive a doctorate
  • More than 85% of NYSCamp alumni are working in a STEM field
  • Nearly 60% of NYSCamp alumni report that the NYSCamp had an influence on their career choice
